The Apotheosis of St. Rupert

1720
Church of St. Rupert, Vienna, Austria

The saint rises on a cloud toward Heaven, which is symbolized by the streams of light flowing in from the left top. The putto in the center holds Rupert's attribute, a salt bucket. Another angel above and to the left of the saint holds his crozier. Rupert himself wears an alb, mitre, and cope. The yellow band of cloth with lightly embossed crosses is a pallium, worn by archbishops as a symbol of their authority.
